Gripper is intended for inserting a weft thread into the warp gap on a weaving loom or for pulling an inserted thread through to the other side of the fabric. It comprises a tubular body containing an axially extending rotatable spindle in its forward end. The forward end of this spindle is contoured such (flat on one side) that it is capable of clamping the thread against the wall of the body by being rotated into a given position. The spindle is pref. held into its clamp position by a spring acting on a radial lever (I) of the spindle and actuated to open by cams acting on lever (I).
