摘要 PURPOSE:To enable restoration of good electrophotograhic characteristics and image characteristics and high durability by coating a curable resin on the defective parts such as pinholes of a surface insulation layer holding electrostatic images then cure the same. CONSTITUTION:A curable resin corresponding to the resin used for the formation of insulation layers is coated on the defective parts, such as pinholes or insulation breakdown of the insulation layer on the photoconductive layer of an electrophotographic receptor, or the surface insulation layer of an image holding member or the like having no photoconductive layer and formed with electrostatic images with stylus electrodes, after which the resin is cured, whereby said parts are restored. For example, when an epoxy acrylate resin, urethane resin, polycarbonate and the like are used for the insulation layer, an acrylic resin, an urethane resin, an expoxy resin and the like are used. An alpha-cyanoacrylate resin in particular is superior in that it penetrates well into the microdefective parts and sets before it sags after application. In this way, the durability is good after the restoration, and a large number of sheets of superior images are obtained. Hence, the defective products produced in the production process are made into products by the restoration and the efficiency of production is improved.
