The device comprises an arc extinction plate packet (3) adjacent the electromagnetic release mechanism (1,2) with a contact set comprising a fixed and movable contacts (4,5) adjacent its front face. The release mechanism (1,2) has an energising winding (1c) enclosed by a frame-shaped magnetic yoke (1a) which is continuous with the end of the horn-shaped fixed contact (4), in turn continuous with the end stampings plate (3a) of the arc extinction plate packet (3). The stamping plate (3b) at the other end of the latter is continuous with a steel plate strip extending towards the movable contact (5) and having a raised nose (3e) forming a stop edge for an insert (5a) providing the pivot bearing for the movable contact (5).
