PURPOSE:To decrease power consumption the off state of the power supply of an optical transmitter at the side to be power-supply-controlled, by detecting the presence of optical signals from an optical transmitter at the power supply control side and giving instruction of on/off to the power supply in a station to be controlled. CONSTITUTION:When an optical signal is transmitted from an optical multiplex transmitter, light is converted into electricity at an optical-electric conversion circuit 6 of an optical multiplex transmitter 3 at the power supply controlled side, and a power supply circuit 12 is operated with this electric signal. Thus, in the transmitter 3, since only the circuit 6 can always be turned on, the power consumption at the off state of the power supply of the device 3 can be reduced remarkably. Since components which are always turned on are less, the device is long in life and the reliability can be increased. |
