<p>The electric motor consists of a cylindrical rotor of permanently magnetic material, around which is disposed a concentric cylindrical stator made of three angularly spaced pole members. Each member consists of a pole piece and a yoke portion. The pole pieces extend parallel to the axis of the rotor which is mounted on a shaft, and each yoke portion is magnetically connected to one end of a pole piece and extends from it in the direction of the rotor axis. A winding is mounted on each yoke portion. The yoke portions are magnetically connected to a further common yoke portion which is in a plane normal to the rotor axis, the shaft passing through an aperture in it.</p> |
