<p>A process is described for treating a metal surface for subsequent deposition of Al. A resin powder is applied to the metal surface, melted and hardened prior to application, by a conventional process, of a bright Al coating. The process is used for coating parts to be employed as light or heat reflectors, e.g. headlamps of automobiles. The resin powder can be applied to an unpolished surface and the resulting resin coating is thick with a smooth surface. The Al coating has a uniform surface appearance. The resin is either a polyurethane, a polyester, an epoxy or an acrylic resin.</p> |
