PURPOSE:To strengthen adhering of solid electrolyte with an electrode, by a method wherein an electrode paste including metal of platinum group and salt mainly zirconium salt is used, and the electrode paste is applied to ZrO2 solid electrolyte sintered body and baked. CONSTITUTION:ZrO2 of 91mol%, Y2O3 of 8mol% and Al2O3 of 1mol% are mixed and sintered at 1,600 deg.C thereby a solid electrolyte 1 is formed. Mixture of zirconium oxychloride and yttrium chloride is added to platinum paste so that percentage of ZrO2 and Y2O3 becomes similar to above-mentioned composition at the thermal decomposition, thereby electrode paste is prepared. The electrode paste is applied to the outer surface of the solid electrolyte sintered body and then baked at 1,300 deg.C for one hour thereby an electrode 2 is formed. On the electrode are provided a protective film 3 of MgAl2O3 adhered by plasma melting. In such a constitution, salts contained in the electrode paste is subjected to thermal decomposition during baking process and then sintering with the solid electrolyte progresses, therefore adhesive strength with the solid electrolyte is increased. |
