A loose cover for a chair or the like is made by casting a non-foaming PVC layer upon an embossed temporary support, casting at least one foaming PVC layer upon the non-foaming layer, heating the composite sheet to gel, bond and foam the layers and finally vacuum or pressure forming the flexible laminate this formed to the desired shape. The successive layers may be partially gelled before the application of the succeeding layer if desired. The temporary support may be a release coated embossed paper strip and a non-tacky coating for incorporation on to the laminate may be applied to the strip before casting. The coating may be a lacquer of a non-plasticized high molecular weight PVC emulsion or an emulsion or solution of an acrylic resin. |
