PURPOSE:To improve gas-absorbing ability and mechanical strength by controlling porosity of a negative electrode plate made of pasty cadmium, under pressure, and impregnating the plate with the a fluorine resin suspension before or after formation and incorporating it in a battery. CONSTITUTION:Conductive material and an adhesive agent solution are added to an active material mainly made from cadmium oxide, and blended to be pasty. The paste is applied on both sides of a core material such as a thin perforated metal plate, and dried and pressed to prepare a pasty cadmium negative electrode plate. Before or after formation of the cadmium negative electrode, the plate is impregnated with a fluorine resin suspension and dried. It is suitable to apply the impregnation with fluorine resin suspension of which solid fluorine resin fraction is 0.15- 8wt%, and a plate having porosity of 30-60% before formation is desirably employed. |
