The invention relates to a process and device for forming a paper web on a Fourdrinier machine. In the process according to the invention, the stock is distributed from a nozzle 1 over the wire gauze 3. To attenuate the hydrodynamic interference, the paper web is formed in a space 8 between a flexible lip 5 projecting from the nozzle and a part of the wire gauze. This part is supported only at the beginning of the paper-forming operation and is unsupported during the finishing stage of the paper-forming process.
