Device for determining the material separation parameters of rotating tools

The device serves for investigating the material separation properties of rotating tools by means of which organic and/or inorganic material is machined. In particular, the separation parameters of a motor trephine used in ophthalmic surgery can be determined under the most varied conditions. This is achieved by mounting the material specimen rotatably below the rotating tool, and arranging the cutting tool or the material specimen on one side of a double-sided lever or hollow-plunger system which acts as a force-transmitting system, while a receptacle for weights for the pressure force is located on the other side. Furthermore, an adjustable stroke limiter is arranged on the holder which supports the tool, and is connected to a timer via electric leads, or a displacement sensor which makes it possible to record the temporal change in position between the tool and material specimen is attached. A thread whose ends act on both sides on a force measuring device is wound on a cylindrical rotating element of the holder for the material specimen in order to measure the torque transmitted to the material.
