<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle case made of sheet metal in which weight reduction and cost reduction are promoted while securing necessary strength by optimizing sheet metal thickness along a vehicle width direction.SOLUTION: An axle case 1 made of sheet-metal is formed by welding a pair of side plates 2 each of which is formed to have a groove-type cross section along the vehicular width direction by press working while making the side plates face each other, and includes: a central part 3 including a swollen part 3a which is swelled in a vertical direction; an intermediate part 4 having a rectangular cross sectional part 4a; and a tip part 5 including a circular cross sectional part 5a. In the axle case 1, a suspension component 6 to which vehicle weight W is applied is mounted on the intermediate part 4 and a spindle 7 to which road surface reaction force R is applied is mounted on the tip part 5, the section modulus of the intermediate part 4 is larger than the section modulus of the tip part 5 and the section modulus of the central part 3 is larger than the section modulus of the intermediate part 4. The sheet metal thickness of the intermediate part 4 is thinner than the sheet metal thickness of the tip part 5 and the sheet metal thickness of the central part 3 is thinner than the sheet metal thickness of the intermediate part 4.</p> |
