A device for supporting hot glass tubing drawn from a source of molten glass on an air cushion. A horizontal elongate chamber is arranged beneath the drawing path of the tubing, and an increased air pressure is maintained in the chamber. The top wall of the chamber has a V-shaped notch in vertical section, within which the tubing is arranged, and one or more openings or slots which extend transversely to the apex section of the top wall and effect an upwardly directed air flow from the chamber, which serves to support the drawn tubing. The dimensions of the openings are selected depending on the diameter and weight range of the glass tubing to be supported, and the air pressure is selected depending on the same variables. The upper sections of the tubing can be cooled by a stream of air in order to prevent the tubing from bending. <IMAGE>
