PURPOSE:To distribute a lubricant uniformly to fine grooves, smooth casting surfaces and improve quality by making the flow resistance of the lubricant fine grooves of a forced cooling mold large than the negative pressure in the void part between the inside wall of the mold at the bottom end in the overhang part of a receiving tank and a metallic columer body. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal receiving tank 31 is opened at the bottom end and is disposed coaxially to a mold 32. Further, the lower inside wall of the tank 31 is positioned on the side inner than the extension surface of the inside wall 35 of the mold 32, thereby forming an overhang part. Lubricant supply ports 41 are opened at intervals in the upper part of the inside wall 35 of the mold 32 over the entire circumference. The lubricant in a storage tank 36 is fed out at a constant rate by a force supply mechanism 37, and is supplied via a lubricant inlet 38, a well 39, and fine grooves 40 then through the ports 41 onto the inside wall of the mold 32. Here, arrangement it so made that the flow resistance of the lubricant in the lubricant flow passages from the well 39 up to the ports 41, that is, in the fine grooves 40, is higher than the absolute value of the negative pressure in the void part formed between the inside wall of the mold 32 and a metallic columnar body during casting. |
