PURPOSE:To provide a system which monitors various types of brush sparkings, by a method wherein an antenna is placed at a periphery of a brush of a rotary electric machine, and this detects an emitting electromagnetic wave resulting from sparking of the brush. CONSTITUTION:In case no spark is produced between a collector ring 1 and a brush 4 making contact with the ring 1, no electromagnetic wave exists in the proximity of an antenna 6, and as a result, no signal is generated at a detection circuit. In case spark is generated between the brush 4 and the connector ring 1, the electromagnetic wave emanates, and thereby the antenna 6, positioned in the proximity of the end of the brush 4, receives and detects the electromagnetic wave to find the production of spark. Unlike a photoelectric system, this constitution permits the detection of spark even if there exists an obstacle to a certain degree, and the output of the electromagnetic wave varies with the strength of the sparkling, whereby an abnormal level can be decided. |
