POSITION-SENSING DEVICE

In a position-sensing device in which a magnetic field generated by applying a driving pulse to a driving coil is applied to a magnetostrictive delay line so as to generate a magnetostrictive vibration on the magnetostrictive delay line and then a sensing coil equipped adjacently to the magnetostrictive delay line senses the magnetostrictive vibration, the driving pulse formed in the driving coil is detected and then the interval between the time of the above detection and the time when the sensing coil senses the magnetostrictive vibration is measured. The position-sensing device gives a wide measuring range and a preferably high sensing accuracy.
