PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of surface flaws in a strip due to a lack of lubrication, by offsetting an upper high speed roll of a roll pair constituting an intermediate second pass to the feed-in side of the rolling stand, at a winding type three- pass rolling mill comprising four work rolls. CONSTITUTION:At subjecting a strip 22 to a winding type three-pass rolling mill comprising four work rolls 10, 12, 14, 16 the upper work roll 12 of a roll pair constituting the second pass is offsetted from the lower work roll 14 by a distance delta to the feed-in side of the rolling stand; the axial centers of other work rolls 10, 14, 16 and backup rolls 18, 20 are aligned on a single vertical line. By the present constitution, the application of lubricant oil to the strip 22, by a lubricant spreader 26 installed on the feed-in side of the intermediate second pass comprising the work rolls 12, 14, is sufficiently performed, so that the strip flaws and scratch flaws due to a lack of lubrication are not generated in the surface of the strip 22. |
