<p>Aqueous emulsion of an org. phosphite which has one or gps. of formula (Y) bonded to a P atom. (R is a singly-branched 6-12 C alkyl gp. bonded to the nucleus through a secondary C atom; n is 1,2 or 3; and R1 is H or 1-3 C alkyl). The phosphites pref. have formula: (Y)2-P-OA or (Y)2-P-OB- (A is (alkyl)phenyl and B is phenylene, naphthylene, or a biphenylene gp. bridged by isopropylidene, sulphur etc.). The phosphites are antioxidants for synthetic rubber e.g. SBR, the phosphite emulsion being added to rubber latex before coagulation. Amount of phosphite is pref. 0.1-5 pts. per 100 pts. rubber.</p> |
