PURPOSE:To make available continuous variation of a display without increasing the number of anodes by a method wherein a control grid arranged between an anodic segment and a cathode is provided in such a slanting state that the grid approaches the anodic segment as it proceeds toward the tip of the displaying direction. CONSTITUTION:A substrate is provided on its surface with an anodic segment 6 consisting of an anode 7 formed by printing in the form of a belt in the longitudinal direction of the substrate with width slightly smaller than that of the longitudinal dimension of the substrate; and a florescent layer 8 applied to the surface of the anode. On the other hand, a cathode 9 commonly used as a thin linear heater is provided apart from the anode at the same distance as that of the other above the anodic segment. In addition, a control grid 11 with an area covering the anodic segment is provided between the anodic segment 6 and the cathode 9 in such a slanting state that its distance from the segment 6 increases as it proceeds toward the tip of the displaying direction. By so doing, it becomes possible to obtain a bar graph display continuously changing in proportion to the analog signal sent to the anode. |
