The invention relates to a suspension arrangement for an appliance which is connected to a device for energy supply which is of flexible and elongate form, for example with a gas lamp provided with an incandescent mantle. This suspension arrangement has an arm which forms a lever and at one end of which the appliance is suspended and at the other end of which the energy supply arrangement, for example a rubber hose, is held, and also a suspension element which forms a pivot which is connected to the arm between its two ends and which is displaceable on the arm to bring about an equilibrium between the weight of the appliance and the weight of the supply element, the arm being arranged in such a manner that in the equilibrium position it is situated on the other side of the free edge of the basic body of the appliance. As a result, the appliance can be connected to a pressurised-gas source or an electric power source and aligned with regard to its suspension point in such a manner that its geometrical axis lies in the desired direction which either corresponds exactly to the vertical or runs obliquely to points which are to be lit especially.
