Domestic solar heat collector - has two reflecting surfaces at right angles directing radiation onto absorber

The solar collector (1) consists of a long enclosure of triangular cross section. The base and the back are insulated (2) and have highly reflective inner surfaces (3). The inclined surface of the enclosure is transparent in order to admit the solar radiation. The absorber (4) is a thin-walled vessel arranged along the bisecting axis of the right angle between the base and the back. The absorber is mfrd. from a high conductivity material cooled by the flow of water within it. The inner volume of the enclosure is evacuated to offset the build up of pressure due to expansion.
