In a process for the manufacture of fibre reinforced shaped articles with a matrix of cured inorganic binder (e.g. portland cement), by preparing an aqueous pulp of reinforcing and retention fibres, subsequently preparing an aqueous slurry of hydraulic inorganic binder particles, reinforcing and retention fibres by suspending hydraulic inorganic binder particles in the pulp, dewatering the aqueous slurry and finally curing the dewatered product, colloidal hydrophilic inorganic particles (e.g. colloidal silica and clay particles) are dispersed in the pulp in order to provide improved dispersion of the fibres in the slurry, improved dewatering properties of the slurry and improved strength of the cured product.
