<p>Iron powder for the core of a disintegrating projectile is produced by water-, steam- or gas jet spraying after which the powder, is opt. moulded. After spraying the iron powder is first mildly heated and submitted to mechanical after-treatment, after which, is required, the treated powder (with the addition of media facilitating moulding) is compressed under high pressure, into shapes with a green strength sufficient only for handling purposes. Spec, pressure applied is about 6000-8000 kg/cm2 and 0.5-1% zinc stearate is added.</p> |
