PURPOSE:The titled equipment that consists of a vessel for containing and storing blood platelets and a specific platelet preservative which is dissolved in a liquid medium and contained in the vessel, thus ensuring the safe storage. CONSTITUTION:The equipment for preserving blood platelets consists of a vessel for containing and storing blood platelets such as blood separation bag shown in the figure and a blood platelet preservative that is dissolved in a physiologically permissible liquid medium and contained in the vessel. The blood platelet preservative is selected from the group consisting of 2,3-diphosphoglyceric acid of formula I, its salts, S-substituted-2-thioadenosine of formula II (R is 1-10C hydrocarbon group, 5-10C cycloalkyl, benzyl substituted with halogen or other groups) and S-substituted-2-thioadenosine-5'-monophosphate of formula III and its salts.
