PURPOSE:To surely set the shifted roll position leaving a roll chock fixed to a position, by slidably upholding a cylindrical bearing box with the inner surface of an extended drum shell attached to the outside of the roll chock, and by connecting the bearing box to a hydraulic thruster. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical bearing box 33 is slidably fitted through a key 35 to the inner surface of an extended drum shell 34 attached to a roll chock 11c of a backup roll 11. This bearing box 33 is connected through a reciprocating rod 41 to a hydraulic thruster 40 attached to a cap shaped end cover 39 set to the outside of the extended drum shell 34. The acting direction of the hydraulic pressure to be introduced into the hydraulic thruster 40 is altered by a changeover valve, and the roll 11 is forward and backward moved axially through a thrust bearing 27. According to the present constitution, the bearing load on the left and right sides of the roll 11 are always constant, so that a rolling work with a full bearing capacity is performed. |
