The tubular spring provides a high spring pressure at small axial compression. It consists of a tube in which a spring region (1) is created by slots (3) producing a number of separate bars (4) integrally connected via regions (5). The slots have constant width over their entire length. The thickness in axial direction of each bar is greatest at the centre of the bar and reduces towards its ends (6). The slots have a curved contour as seen in axial direction, which may be achieved by laterally cutting the tube along planes at an angle of less than 90 deg., pref. about 85 deg. to the tube axis. The central thickness of each bar is pref. at least 1.5 times that at its ends (6).
