Title compds. I(R = R1 = H, F or Br; R2 = cyano or ethynyl; R3 = IV or V; R4 = R5 = Cl, Br or methyl; Hal = halogen useful as insecticides, were prepd. by the reaction of II and III. Thus, 8 g 3-(4-fluorophenoxy)-α-cyanobenzylalcohol and 7.5 g α-isopropyl-4-chlorophenylacetyl chloride were dissolved in 150 ml anhydrous toluene, and reacted with 2.64 g pyridine at 25-30≦̸C for 43 hr to give 13.2 g 3'-(4-fluorophenoxy)-α'-cyanobenzyl-α'-isopropyl-4-chlorophenylacetate.
