<p>Metal-C solid solns. for contact materials, e.g. switch contacts (anisotropic) and sliding contacts (isotropic) are prepd. by saturating C filaments in protective gas or reducing atmos. or in high vacuum (5.10-5 Torr) with liquid, highly conductive metal, esp. Cu and/or Ag, contg. 0.5 - 5% added carbide-forming metal, esp. Ti. In prodn. of anisotropic materials, the C filaments are pref. oriented perpendicularly to subsequent contact surface and in isotropic materials and C filaments are present as wool, opt. contg. 1-3 wt. % added flaky graphite (acting as lubricant). Pref. 0.2 - 15 (esp. 0.5 - 5) wt. % C is incorporated in the Ag, Cu or alloy matrix.</p> |
