<p>Cpds. of gen. formula (I) where R1 = lower alkyl, cycloalkyl (3-4C) 3-phenylpropyl or 3-cyanopropyl; R2 = H or methyl; and their acid-addn. salts are prepd. by oxidising the corresp. alcohol using MnO2, pref. in a cyclic or open-chain ether as solvent, using activated MnO2 for 1-2 days at room temp. Starting materials are prepd. by reacting 4-hydroxy-2,3-substd. indoles with epihalohydrins. (I) have adrenergic beta-receptor blocking activity, anti-arrhythmic activity and may be used in the treatment of heart disorders.</p> |
