A process for the preparation of precious metal-coated particles which comprises adding a reducing agent to an aqueous suspension containing: (A) homogeneously suspended core material particles; (B) homogeneously suspended precious metal salt particles; and (C) dissolved precious metal ions in an aqueous acidic medium having little dissolving capacity for the core material to produce precious metal-coated particles through gelling state, and recovering the produced precious metal-coated particles. Other analogous processes for the preparation of precious metal-coated particles via gelling state are also disclosed.
