MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR CAPSULE FOR DISCHARGE LAMP

PURPOSE:To improve the yield by stopping instantaneously the flow of an inert gas just before an opening of a glass thin tube is sealed completely to suppress the cooling effect on a heated portion when the inert gas is inflowed after a luminous material is introduced into the glass thin tube. CONSTITUTION:Argon gas is inflowed into a glass thin tube 1 from a rare gas introducing nozzle 8 by opening an electromagnetic valve 9, while the tip 6 of the glass thin tube 1 is separated from the tip 10 of the rare gas introducing nozzle 8 by a gap G2 and the tip 6 of the galss thin tube 1 is heated with a gas burner. Thereby air in the glass thin tube is substituted by argon gas. Just before the sealing is completed through heating with gas burner to soften the tip 6 of the glass thin tube 1, the electromagnetic valve 9 is closed to stop instantaneously the feeding of argon gas into the glass thin tube.
