PURPOSE:To facilitate record replacement, etc., by turning a tone arm up to a play start position only when a turntable moves from a record-disk replacement position to a play position and a record disk has been placed on the turntable. CONSTITUTION:When a rack driving gear 15 is turned clockwise, a slide base 9 having an installed turntable 44 moves from a record-disk replacement position to the play position side of a player cabinet 1 together with a rack 16. At this time, the record detection pin 40 of the turntable 44 is held lowered by the weight of a record disk R and according to the turning of the turntable 44, a record detection lever 36 is inverted to make the end part 36b of the lever 36 engage with a guide cam 12, so that the base 9 stops at the play position. Then, a driving plate 28 coupling with the gear 15 through a crank 43 and a lead-in latch 29 nip a pin 24 implanted in a pickup plate 23 to turn the tone arm up to a play start position. Consequently, even if operation is started without the record R placed, the arm 5 will not turn, thus preventing the damage, etc., of the pickup. |
