ROTARY SHAFT WATER SEAL UNIT FOR SAILING BOAT

PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent water seal effect against the water pressure from the utside by injecting under pressure a lubricant into a communication space between O rings double-installed an outer shell penetrated, using a dynamic hydraulic pressure in a rotary shaft which penetrates the outer shell of a sailing boat and projects into the outside water. CONSTITUTION:A rotary shaft 2 used for sailing boats is supported with a ball bearing 3 at a penetrating part and is water-sealed with double-O rings 9 and 10 installed outside. A communicating space 20 installed between the O rings 9 and 10 is communicated to an upper part of an oil tank 13 installed inside an outer shell 1 with an oil groove 11 pierced through the outer shell 1 and an oil pipe connected with it. A lower part of the oil tank 13 is communicated to a water pipe 16 which is connected to a dynamic hydraulic pressure intake nozzle 15 opened to the front end of a fin 14 of the outer shell 1. This construction allows the water 18 flowing in from the intake nozzle 15 to push up the oil 7 inside the oil tank 13 and supply the oil 7 to the communicating space 20 and lubricate the sliding face between the O rings 9 and 10 when sailing by the rotating operation of the rotary shaft 2 and a propeller 6.
