<p>The water tube boiler has a combustion chamber between an upper water reservoir and a lower reservoir of half size. It has a series of vertical tubes connecting them, with baffles between. Both reservoirs are rectangular tanks, each with a rectangular top and bottom plate. The sides are formed by semicircular section channels, and the ends by shorter channels, butt welded. The corners which complete them are formed by pieces shaped as a quarter of a sohere. All these pieces are half the thickness of the top and bottom plates, which are grooved all round their edges, to receive the edges of the other pieces, for welding. The remainder of the space at the bottom houses a mechanical grate.</p> |
