PURPOSE:To considerably reduce the ocurrence of internal cracking, gas holes, nonmetallic inclusions, etc. by pouring molten metal while allowing the same to contact with the surface of the groove of a rotary ring in belt type continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal 2 is injected from a deformed nozzle 12 of which the tip of the nozzle is provided at the bottom surface of a tundish 1 and inclined at a suitable angle with respect to a perpendicular direction into the mold space formed by a rotary ring 4 and an endless metallic belt 5. After the molten metal 2 abuts on the bottom surface of the ring 4, it is charged into the mold space while contacting with the ring 4. Thereby, the gentle charging flow is obtained, the depth of the infiltration of the molten metal 2 into the mold is decreased, the nonuniformity of the thickness of the solidified shell 9 by the remelting of a belt side solidified shell 9 is eliminated and the ingot of good quality is produced continuously. |
