An appliance for harnessing heat produced in the microbial decomposition of organic substances (2) has a bioreactor. The bioreactor is a fully portable, insulated, free-standing container (9) which can be transported even while operating. The container (9) is provided with quick-connecting devices (20) for connecting the container (9) to the object to be heated or its heating circuit. Thus an appliance is achieved in which organic substances can be processed microbially at any site desired and the chemical substances, gases and waste heat thus produced can be drawn off and utilised directly at the place of consumption. <IMAGE> |
