<p>The throw-away pocket lighter conventionally comprises an elongated plastics case containing the fuel with an igniter unit and gas nozzle on top and a nozzle-adjuster projecting slightly sideways. A metal sleeve (2) matching the case dimensions, fitting closely around it elastically but free to slide along it, extends from the base (3) to the igniter unit (4). The sleeve material may be 1 mm (about) sheet steel, surface-treated or copper or a copper alloy. A slot (7) about 10 mm deep and 5 wide, enlarging to 10 near the bottom, extends from the top edge down each side in line with the nozzle. It also has operating and nozzle-adjusting openings.</p> |
