Spinning-frame spindle of thin-walled steel tube - forming push fitting on extension of steel spindle wharf

A spindle assembly for a spinning frame comprises a spindle of pre-formed, thin-walled steel tube which forms a push-fit on an upward extension of a spindle-wharve, also of steel. The lower end of the tube is reinforced by a sleeve of tubular steel which is a push-fit on the spindle-tube, and whose upper end forms a shoulder on which rests the lower end of the bobbin tube. The length of the spindle-wharve extension is approx. 10% of the length of the tube. The wall-thickness of the tube is not greater than 10% of its dia., and the wall thickness of the sleeve is approx. 1.5 times that of the tube. This is a light-weight spindle of simple, inexpensive construction which minimises the risk of a slackening of the connection between spindle and spindle wharve by making them of the same material.
