The valve has a piezoelectric element for pulsed operation of the valve needle (2), with a springs (5) biasing the needle (2) into contact with the valve seat. The piezoelectric element (1) and the needle (2) are rigidly joined together, with the former being spring-mounted in the valve housing via the biasing springs (5) for the needle (2). The square of the max. opening time for the valve is less than the sum of the masses of the piezoelectric element (1), and any additional mass (8) the valve needle (2) supported by the springs (5) divided by the sum of the directional forces of the springs (5). The valve is relatively insensitive to temp. variations.
