The antioxidant contains 2,2,4- trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline polymers of the general formula: <IMAGE> (wherein n is an integer of 0 to 2) as a main component, characterized by comprising purified 2,2,4-trimethyl- 1,2-dihydroquinoline polymers having more than 50% by weight of dimer component of n = 0, and not more than 20% by weight of amine impurities other than said polymers. The anitioxidant is particularly effective when used in vulcanised natural or synthetic rubber which is subject to the action of light, ozone or oxygen, or subject to dynamic fatigue, or heat, and which is non- staining, non-blooming in respect of unvulcanised material and which does not lower the peeling resistance as between rubber and rubber. |
