The invention is used in labelling machines with outputs up to medium levels and/or for processing long labels and relates to the removal and transfer of individual labels from a fixed label container to a labelling cylinder by at least one removal element which is mounted on a support rotating at a constant speed and the shaft of which is pivotably fastened to the support by means of a control gear. The object of the invention is to superimpose a relative movement on the removal element by means of a very simple control gear and by means of a cam which does not slope very steeply. The invention is essentially that the control gear has a nonuniform transmission ratio and the cam path does not slope very steeply. An angle lever is pivotably assigned to each removal element on the support, one limb of which lever engages in a fixed curved groove via a roller and the second limb of which has a slide element which is arranged in a slideway which is fixedly connected to the shaft of the removal element.
