PREPARATION OF DESULFURIZING AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain an adsorbing agent which is not degraded in SO2-adsorbing ability when subjected to repeated adsorption and desorption, by regulating the initial SO2-adsorbing power when preparing a desulfurizing agent used for a dry type exhaust-gas desulfurizer from coal. CONSTITUTION:When preparing the desulfurizer used in a dry type desulfurizing method for the adsorption removal of sulfur oxides in combustion exhaust gases by dry distillation and activation of coal, the process of dry distillation and activation is so controlled that the initial SO2-adsorbing power of the desulfurizing agent will be not higher than 16g.SO2/100g.desulfurizing agnet. The thus prepared desulfurizing agent shows no degradation of SO2-adsorbing ability when subjected to repeated adsorption and desorption, therefore it can be used for a long period of time, while being provided with high mechanical strength.
