Video disc package - with polystyrene foam halves joined by integral hinge with snap closure

A package for delicate plate-like articles, specially for video discs, consists of two square halves which are joined by an integral hinge. On half has a protruding rim which fits over an undercut periphery of the other half to form a snap closure. Each half has a circular recess on which the video disc rests along a peripheral ledge to keep the remainder clear of the package. The preferred material for the package is extruded polystyrene foam either in one layer or with a one- or two-sided coating of a foil of polystyrene, polyethylene, polyester or PVC. This protects a video disc from pressure, shock and temperature effects and is simple to produce.
