The expansion-screw joint has the tapped hole sealed by elastic material such as rubber or plastics. The screw shank and at least the end of the screwed part are enclosed by elastic material fitting tightly against them. This material can be arranged to fill a widened portion of the tapped hole and/or holes through which the screw fits purely by elastic distortion, forming a seal. The design affords effective prevention of corrosion in the tapped hole.
