PURPOSE:To improve the operability of an operator by giving priority levels to respective initial program loading IPL devices and by performing IPL by confirming the order of priority levels automatically when a power source is turned on. CONSTITUTION:To a CPU1, a timer mechanism 2, a main storage device 3, a keyboard device 5, a floppy disk device 6, and a disk device 7 are connected via a bus line 4. An initial program IP is stored in the device 7, and priority between IPL devices is set in the order of devices 7 and 6. As a power source is put to work, the program IPL performs time monitoring by using the timer mechanism 2 for a certain time and if an operator does not operate any key within the time, an input and output instruction is sent to the device with higher priority to confirm the connection of the device 7, thereby loading the IP of the device 7 into the area 10 of the device 3. Then, the connection of the device 6 is confirmed and the IP of the device 6 is loaded. Within the monitoring time of the mechanism 2, the operator is allowed to perform IPL to an optional IPL device first by operating keys. |
