The burner of the paraffin lamp comprises a hollow double walled cone which has the cotton wick material held between the walls. The wick dips into a reservoir of paraffin. A column to hold the incandescent electric lamp is mounted inside the conical burner at sufficient height for the bulb to clear the burner. An electric supply cable enters through a hole in the wall of the burner cone. The bulb is removed when the paraffin is to be used, or may be raised clear of the flame if the bulb holder is mounted on a rack mechanism.
