<p>The electronic exchange has a facility for a subscriber to request reconnecting of a call to a different number, or similar facilities. When an incoming call arrives for the subscriber's own number a connection is made to an answering device. The caller is informed of the non-availability of the person being called and, when so selected, of the reconnection which is about the take place. He is further informed that, after a brief time lapse, his call, hitherto free, will be charged at the appropriate tariff. During and immediately following this recorded message the caller can terminate his call without accruing any charges. If he allows the reconnection to proceed, or, in the case of a message only, wishes to hear a repeat, the timer system cancels the charge suppression condition and starts the callers charge meter by sending the relevant charging inpulses. Instead of messages the information can be given by tone signals.</p> |
