The suspension to be converted into corrugated fibreboard contains at least 50% water, and is spread in a thicker layer than the thickness of the finished prod. The suspension mat is inserted between rows of moulding rods which are displaced from each other to impose a serpentine path between them when advanced and give corrugation to the material. Blankets are inserted between the fibre material and the rods. The rods are moved together so that the material is corrugated between the flexible blankets on either side. The corrugated material is fed to a hot press to be compressed into the required shape and thickness, to be cut into sections. The process improves the dynamic and static stability of the material, preventing cracks and weaknesses during moulding.
