The electrode arrangement has two mutually opposite rows of electrodes, it being possible to connect the electrode holders of one row of electrodes to welding transformers, while the electrode holders in the other row of electrodes are connected to a passive jumper; in this arrangement, the electrodes are in the form of prisms with an approximately square cross-section, and in each case two interacting electrodes on mutually opposite electrode holders are arranged on contact surfaces and supporting surfaces so that they can be continuously variably adjusted and can be fixed, which contact surfaces and supporting surfaces at least approximately form a right angle with one another, the mutually facing end surfaces of interacting electrodes running parallel to one another and running parallel to the angle bisectors between the contact surfaces and supporting surfaces.
