PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, having a high mechanical strength and a high cleaning capacility, by providing a ceramic porous material in the through-hole of a ceramic structure with the aid of an adhesive ceramic material. CONSTITUTION:A structure for cleaning exhaust gas discharged from internal combustion engine, e.g., automobile, etc., is prepared by a method in which a ceramic porous material 3, e.g., expanded ceramic material, etc., is filled in the single or plural through holes 2 of a ceramic structure 1 and then the periphery of the ceramic porous material 3 is strongly combined with the inner wall of the through holes 2 with the aid of an adhesive ceramic material 4. The structure S thus ob tained for cleaning exhaust gas has a high cleaning capability and a high mechanical strength. |
